Donna Marie Thorsen is a Nationally Certified, Florida Licensed Acupuncture Physician, Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Florida Licensed Massage Therapist.
In 1977, she graduated Cum Laude from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. A Design major, she also studied Psychology, Sociology, and Philosophy with special interests in Health and Nutrition.
Donna has over 20 years experience in various aspects of Natural Healing, always fascinated with Eastern philosophy and its Medicine, as well as the healing power of herbs.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota. A four year state accredited Master's Program, she studied Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Associated modalities. Donna has over six years clinical experience and an impressive Herbal Pharmacy.
In the Fall of 2000, Donna was offered the opportunity of a lifetime, as interships in the United States in this field are few and far between. She was invited to work and study under Dr. Chiang Zhao, a famous Doctor from Tianyin Medical Hospital in China. With over 30 years of experience, his biography and excellence in Chinese Medicine appears in China's "Book of Famous Physicians". He is an herbal genius, having started as a boy studying Chinese Medicine with his Grandfather, Bao Zhan Wang. Dr. Zhao then graduated from Tianyin Medical Institute. Donna spend over eight months working closely with him at th NCCA award-winning Tortoise Clinic of Chinese Medicine in Destin, FL. She was honored to work with this man. There Donna treated over 2500 patients. She still keeps in close touch with him as an herbal consultant.
Recently, Donna was presented with the 2002 Business Person of the Year Award from the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce at their annual awards breakfast. The award is for "Outstanding Achievement in Business and Planning, Marketing, Performance and Service.
In July, 2003, she passed the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) National Chinese Herb Board Exam, and is officially designated a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Herbology, as well as a Diplomate of Acupuncture. These are extremely high honors.
This is going on Donna's 6th year at Healing Hands with about 8 years of clinical work behind her. She has a huge, beautiful complete Traditional Chinese Medicinal Pharmacy, which serves her well, as she has hundreds of healthy, happy patients. This is her reward.
